Some words about Essaouira

The city of Essaouira, or Mogador, is locatedon the Atlantic coastof Morocco, about 300 kilometers from Casablanca.

Villa de l'Ô - Hotel Essaouira

Founded in the second half of the XVIIIth century by the will of sultan Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah, she has a picturesque character, without any equivalent in North Africa, due to its fortifications surrounding ancient quarters featuring surprisingly straight and wide streets designed by a Frenchman Theodore Cornut. The creation of the town owes to it’s historical context marked by the signature of commercial treaties with European countries. To animate economic exchanges, Jewish families were called in, and consulates settled there. Essaouira has therefore been a genuine place of exchange between civilisations.
